Vintage Johnson Brothers "The Friendly Village" Mug and Coaster Set, Made in England

Imagine curling up with a cozy cup of coffee/tea or hot chocolate and a good book on a cold winter day -- this mug and coaster are perfect for such an occasion! This is a 2-piece set with a mug and coaster in "The Friendly Village" pattern by Johnson Brothers made in England. This set depicts an idyllic winter snow scene with a red covered bridge and the border (on the mug) has a pretty floral and leaf scroll design all done in a brown transferware with polychrome color on a creamy background. This design was produced from 1953-2003 and is discontinued. The coaster has the older Johnson Bros crown mark and made in England backstamp in black. The mug has no stamp but is impressed with "Made in England" on the underside. The coaster and mug are in overall very good vintage condition with only minor age related wear.
