Beautiful Complete Set of French Faience Oyster Plates - 12 Plates and 1 Master Platter

A complete set of 12 French faience shell oyster plates and master server dish or platter from Moulin des Loups (Orchies), circa 1950s. Each of the twelve gray and white plates features 6 compartments in the shape of oyster shells and one well for the lemon or mignonette. Master server dish has 12 shell compartments and four wells for lemon, butter, and mignonettes. A glazed ring in a deep gray hue decorates the edges, and the center of each well features an ombre gray on a creamy white textured background. The back of each plate is marked in gray with a windmill and France, Orchies, Moulin Des Loups, Made in France. There are a couple tiny flea bite chips which are photographed.  A great addition to any collection! 

The two brothers L'Herminé Declercq, Emile and Joseph, set up a manufacturing factory in Orchies (in Flanders), in 1886. Emile already owned a pottery factory in nearby Belgium, but wanted to expand his output through a joint venture with his brother. The new pottery initially concentrated on the production of faience pottery and was staffed mainly by Belgian pottery families who used to work in Rimbaud and who emigrated to France.
