Large Antique Ironstone Tea Leaf Pitcher By Alfred Meakin Of England
Large Antique Ironstone Tea Leaf Pitcher By Alfred Meakin Of England
For your consideration is a stunning antique “Tea Leaf” Ewer by Alfred Meakin of Tunstall England. Produced in the 1880’s this large vessel features a rounded bamboo style with copper lustre and signature tea leaf motif. Originally, this would have been part of a pitcher / basin set and used in the bath. The motif was originally known as “Lustre Band & Sprig”. 120+ years later it can be beautifully repurposed & adored as a decorative object, vase or added to a collection. The simplicity of this lovely whiteware accented with a splash of copper lustre lends this piece to blend easily with a varitey of decor styles. The copper accents are especially beautiful for fall.
Good antique condition. There are no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. There is crazing in the glaze throughout. A few small areas with some light staining but does not detract. There is more significant staining at the inside base from age/use/storage. The copper lustre is shiny and without wear. Please see all photos and zoom in for details!
